Cangqian Mutton Hot-pot Festival

There is an old saying in China: Eat a sheep in winter, and you won't feel cold at all.  As the weather turns cold, so it is a good choice to eat a hot pot of mutton. “Mutton Hop-pot” in Hangzhou Cangqian is the traditional Chinese food, enjoying a hundred-year history and famous for its mellow sauce and delicious flavor. There is soup that has been cooked for many years. The soup is kept under a certain amount; the pot never dries and the fire never stops. The soup tastes very fantastic, which at the same time establishes mutton pot food culture. Following the latest diet fads of “Eating Culture, Eating Feature, Eating Freshness”, “Mutton Hop-pot” organized three “Mutton Hot-pot Gourmet Festival” in succession, leading a new fashion to eat.

The eighth Festival of Mutton Hot Pot in Cangqian rang up the curtain. For the last twenty days, there were over 100,000 people came here for its famous Taoyangguo. During the festival, there are 29 restaurants in Cangqian serving Taoyangguo. You can choose where you want to go. The festival lasts for a month and you’ve still got time.

Hangzhou Bamboo Shoot Festival

Hangzhou Bamboo Shoot Festival is one of the series activities of China Hangzhou West Lake International Expo. During this period, “Eco-tour of Bamboo Township” is held besides bamboo products exhibition, trade fair, bamboo industry forum etc.

But what is the most attractive? Must be Stewed Bamboo Shoots. Stewed Bamboo Shoots is a traditional Hangzhou dish, which is made from tender bamboo shoots that are unearthed around and the dish is cooked with rich oils and plenty of sugar. The color of the dish is red and bright and it is fresh, tender, refreshing, salty and sweet in flavor. It is such a flavor that is worth tasting more than hundred times.

Another famous dish is Bamboo Shoots soup with fresh and pickled streaky pork. Which is my favorite dish. 

Impression West Lake

Impression West Lake is one of Chinese top live-action performances strongly featured by the local culture and unique charm of Hangzhou West Lake. It is nationwide famous for its dreamlike show and fantastic elegance. Using the lake and its surroundings as props, lots of lights and hundreds of actors create a dazzling performance.  Actually, the visitors in Hangzhou are unexceptionally eager to watch this life-size performance, because it is one mingled and charming show of Hangzhou culture and history. Impression West Lake is one of the representatives created by Zhang Yimou who is Chinese most famous movie director and the general director of the opening ceremony of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, Wang Chaoge and Fan Yue.

The history and culture of West Lake as well as the beautiful natural landscape of West Lake are the origin of Impression West Lake. This performance vividly shows the folklores and myths of Hangzhou and highlights the best of them. Via the high technology, the makers recreate The Rain of West Lake, which in some ways reflects the natural charm of rain of West Lake and West Lake in rain. The whole scenes of performance are live-action show with the real water and hills as the performance background. By virtue of the life-like and life-size show, the rooted culture and the natural beauty of Hangzhou are highly exhibited.

Kitaro Matsuri, a world-class musician, created the aesthetic background music for this performance. Zhang Liangyin, a Chinese popular singer sings the theme song, and her heaven-like sound brings the audiences into the environment of dream and romantic Hangzhou. The music album "Impression West Lake" was nominated for Best New Age Album for the 52nd Grammy's in 2009.

                                                              Osmanthus Rain at Manjuelong Village

Smell of autumn in Hangzhou is the fragrance of Osmanthus flowers. As you walk down the streets of Hangzhou, everywhere filled with light fragrance of sweet scent. You will feel refreshing and all the stress will go away. Manjuelong Village is the best place  for you to appreciate the sweet osmanthus. Manjuelong Village was built during the Ming dynasty,it’s known for its osmanthus trees. In 1984,the osmanthus tree was chosen as the city flower of Hangzhou, and therefore it was listed in “New Ten Veiws of West Lake”.

North Mountain

Hangzhou is a mountainous city, but North Mountain is unique. In autumn, all over the mountains are in full swing since the fall of the leaves. From one thousand years of history, people built many temples and pavilions on the mountain. It is testimony to the Hangzhou’s bustling history. Many historical figures have been here, they wrote many stories and beautiful poetries for North Mountain. My favorite is “Hong Hua Qing Shui Wang Gao Lou, Yi Ye Shan Tan Wang Yue Zhou”.

On June 6, 1929, the first west lake expo opened China's exhibition industry precedent. By 2013, it has held 15 sessions.
